Wood Deck Stittsville

A Pressure Treated Deck Replacement

The old deck has seen better days and needs replacing

The old deck in Stittsville was in dire need of some love and Jack Built was up to the task!

On this project we opted to use the existing concrete footings as they were in good shape and was in line with the clients budget.

We kept the shape and size of the deck the same with some slight changes to make it more accessible. Sometimes the existing design of the deck works so why change it.

When the old deck was built it was not properly waterproofed and no flashing was used…and this was the result!

The builder installed lag screws right through the siding. Over the years the water travelled along the screws as well as behind the ledger board. It resulted in rotting the sheathing as well as the rim joist of the house.

The old deck wasn't waterproofed properly and rotted the house...not to worry we fixed it

To repair it we removed the rotted sheathing and rim joist, installed new.

When installing the ledger board it is essential that you install waterproofing behind the ledger board as well as flashing over the ledger board.

This method will last the test of time and not damage your home

New ledger board attached to the house with flashing to avoid water penetration

The end result is a beautifully finished wood deck!

This deck features a double picture frame as well as a wrap around step. The deck and steps are trimmed with a 2×4 to keep the lines clean and strong.

There was a basement window which we installed a railing around with a table on top. There is an access door which is held with rare earth magnets so that it can be opened from the inside in case of an emergency.

This pressure treated wood deck in Stittsville looks amazing
